Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore have received a huge blow ahead of second phase of IPL 2021. RCB all-rounder Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2021. This news comes after the franchise left for UAE on August 29.

The 21-year-old all-rounder was earlier named in India’s 20-memeber squad for the five Test match series against England, however, he was ruled out of that after suffering an injury. Sundar suffered a finger injury during a three-day warm-up game at the Chester-le-Street.

Akash Deep to replace Sundar in IPL 2021 Phase 2

The in-form star all-rounder Washington Sundar had earlier suffered a finger injury in a warrm-up match playing for County XI. This incident led him to miss the ongoing England Test series alongside several other Indian players in the form of Shubman Gill, Avesh Khan.

“Royal Challengers Bangalore all-rounder Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the remainder of the IPL 2021 due to an impending finger injury. Akash Deep, a state cricketer from Bengal and net bowler with the franchise has been named as a replacement,” a part of the press statement by RCB read.

With the Australian trio of Adam Zampa, Daniel Sams and Kane Richardson missing the remainder of the season, Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga, pacer Dushmantha Chameera, Tim David and England all-rounder George Garton have been named as the replacements for the Phase 2. New Zealand cricketers Finn Allen and Scott Kuggeleijn will also remain unavailable due to national duties.

The Virat Kohli-led franchise will play their first match against Kolkata Knight Riders on September 20 in UAE.
