Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer has revealed his choice of umpire ahead of the World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand scheduled to start on June 18 in Southampton. However, the 43-year-old gave his opinion in his own style through his clever use of sarcasm and humour.

Jaffer comes up with epic meme on WTC final

Known for his witty tweets on social media, a new Wasim Jaffer meme has been doing the rounds on Monday. In a hilarious post, the Punjab Kings head coach has revealed his opinion on the selection of umpires for the WTC final next month. He can be clearly seen showing his disapproval to English umpire Richard Kettleborough. However, Jaffer looks absolutely satisfied with the choice of Sri Lankan umpire Kumar Dharmasena and gives him the green signal for officiating in the grand finale. The former Indian cricketer also tagged ICC to ensure that his point is taken care with the governing body set to announce the the list of officials few days later.

Why does Jaffer prefer Dharmasena over Kettleborough?

The meme would have been in response to the well-known fact that Richard Kettleborough has been the umpire in all the ICC knockout matches that Team India have lost since 2014. The 48-year-old has not proven to be quite lucky for Virat Kohli's side and Jaffer, just like all the Indian fans doesn't want to take any risk in the highly-important WTC final.

Meanwhile, the former Indian cricketer would have preferred Kumar Dharmasena because he is one of the best umpires in world cricket right now. Additionally, the 50-year-old was at the helm of things when New Zealand lost the finals of 2015 and 2019 World Cups. So the selection of Dharmasena in the WTC final might hand over the psychological advantage to India.

The fans absolutely loved this piece of witty humour by Jaffer and flooded the Twitter with some rib-tickling responses. While some hinted that Williamson will be worried by this post, the Indian fans unanimously agreed with Jaffer's opinion and expressed their affirmation in their own style.
