In yet another close match in the Premier League at the Old Trafford, Manchester United, who were reduced to 10 men, defeated Ipswich Town 3-2, to jump to 14th place in the points table. At the start of the second half, Harry Maguire scored the winner with a towering header for Manchester United after they were a man down as new signing Patrick Dorgu was sent off for a rash challenge on Ipswich Town winger Omari Hutchinson.

The first half began with a massive mistake at the back for Manchester United as the miscommunication between goal-keeper Andre Onana and left wingback Patrick Dorgu allowed Jaden Philogene an easiest of tap-in in the fourth minute. In the 22nd minute, Manchester United were back on level terms at 1-1 after Ipswich Town captain Sam Morsy could plant a firm header into the back of his own net while trying to keep Rasmus Hojlund at bay on his opposing counterpart Bruno Fernades’ free-kick.

Just four minutes later, Manchester United took a 2-1 lead after Matthijs de Ligt smashed the ball into the roof of the net after the ball fell kindly in front of him in the six-yard box. With the home team looking in cruise control, an awful challenge from Dorgu on Hutchinson was checked by referee Darren England on VAR Craig Pawson’s advice, and it led to a straight red for the Manchester United wingback in the 43rd minute.

A handful of minutes later at the closure of the first half, Ipswich Town got back on level terms at 2-2 after Jaden Philogene’s cross from distance was allowed to get into the back of the net. The break came at the right time for Manchester United as they managed to not only score the winner in the 47th minute through Harry Maguire’s towering header, but also didn’t allow Ipswich Town to dictate terms in front of goal despite being a man up.
