Adrien Broner, the former four-division world champion, has announced that he is moving back down to the 140-pound division and is looking to unify the belts following his win over  Bill Hutchinson at the Casino Miami in South Florida on Friday. Broner, who is currently ranked number two by the WBC and number three by the WBA, WBO, and IBF, fought his first fight on Friday since he defeated Jovanie Santiago by unanimous decision on  February 20, 2021.

Broner is a talented fighter with a lot of experience as he has won world titles in four different weight classes after beating some of the best fighters in the world. However, the 33-year-old American boxer has also been criticized for his inconsistent work ethic and his tendency to make headlines for the wrong reasons.

In October 2021,  Broner was jailed for violating the terms of his probation after failing to enroll in a court-mandated alcohol program. In his first fight since his release,  former protégé of Floyd Mayweather Jr. dominated Hutchinson from the start to win the bout  100-90, 99-91, 99-91. Broner announced that he will be coming for all the championship belts at the 140-pound division after winning his 35th of the 41 professional fights.

Broner began by saying, "Anybody with the title. Uhh, What's his name? Romello?" The announcer replied, "Rolly (Rolando Romero)," and the American boxer continued, "I like the winner of Teofimo (Lopez) and Josh Taylor and whoever else got the belt. I want all the belts, I don't just want a Louis belt, a Gucci belt, I want the WBA belt, and WBO belt, and WBC belt, and IBF belt too."

If Broner can stay focused and motivated, he has the potential to be a major force at 140 pounds. The division is currently very competitive, with the likes of Josh Taylor, Regis Prograis, and Jose Ramirez all holding world titles. However, Broner has the talent to beat any of these fighters.

Broner's first fight back at 140 pounds is expected to be against a top-10 contender later this year. If he can win that fight, he will be in line for a title shot. A win over a champion would put Broner in the conversation as one of the best fighters in the world.

Here are some of the potential opponents for Broner at 140 pounds:

  • Josh Taylor (WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO champion)
  • Regis Prograis (WBO mandatory challenger)
  • Jose Ramirez (WBO champion)
  • Teofimo Lopez (former IBF champion)
  • Gervonta Davis (WBA regular champion)
