After winning the first ODI of the three-match series against Sri Lanka, it hasn't been the best of start with the bat for Bangladesh in the ongoing second ODI at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka on Tuesday. Although they won the toss and opted to bat first, making a couple of changes to their XI, it hasn't gone their way ever since. While they lost Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan in the second over itself, Liton Das and Mosaddek Hossain also departed inside 16 overs with the scoreboard reading 74/4.

As far as Sri Lanka are concerned, they have stuck to their plans and would now look to build on the good start. They have been great in the field as well, as was evident by the catch wicketkeeper Kusal Perera grabbed off the bowling of Lakshan Sandakan to get rid of Mosaddek. Notably, in the fourth ball of the 16th over, Sandakan was getting one to turn down the leg side. Had the batter made no contact, it could well have been given a wide down the leg side but a fine nick found an alert skipper Perera behind the stumps which led to the dismissal.

Mushfiqur Rahim had played the game-changing innings in opening ODI

Notably, Bangladesh were caught in a similar situation last game before senior batsman Mushfiqur Rahim stepped up and played a fine innings of 84 from 87 deliveries to help his team reach a solid total of 257/6. Later, they bowled out the visitors for 224, clinching a 33-run win. Rahim has continued his rich form in the ongoing match so far.
