The ongoing season of IPL keeps on getting more and more entertaining with the passing days as fans are getting to see something different every other match. After the tournament saw its first 37-run over of the season, we got to see the first super over of IPL 2021, with Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad playing out a thriller. There has been another addition to the list of new things for this season on Tuesday, however, this one was a bit strange.

First warning of IPL 2021

The incident happened during match no. 22 between Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore in Ahmedabad. After Rishabh Pant's side picked some crucial wickets in the powerplay, the DC skipper introduced veteran Amit Mishra into the attack. Just as the 38-year-old was getting ready to bowl, there was a brief stoppage.

Notably, the TV umpire Mr Anil Chaudhary had caught the leg-spinner applying saliva on the ball, something which is not allowed in cricket nowadays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The message was passed on to the on-field umpire Virender Sharma, who warned Mishra about the same. As per protocols, the umpire also briefed the DC skipper that the leg-spinner has received the first warning for using saliva.

Watch the incident here:

The umpire sanitized the ball before giving it back to Amit Mishra, who was a bit shell-shocked for a moment. However, the leg-spinner quickly realised his mistake, considering this act is not allowed anymore. The 38-year-old immediately started to use the sweat instead of using saliva and bounced back in style as he picked the wicket of Glenn Maxwell later in the innings.
