Anaya Bangar, former India cricketer Sanjay Bangar’s child, is once again in news after earlier taking the internet by storm for the gender change. In November 2024, Sanjay Bangar’s son, Aryan took the centrestage for his shocking revelation of undergoing hormonal replacement surgery while confirming himself to be a transwoman. It became noticeable when the cricketer changed his name from Aryan to Anaya.

But recently, in a latest interaction with Lallantop, Anaya Bangar openly discussed her journey since undergoing the Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) along with reflecting on the challenges she has faced since then, not only on social media, but also in the cricketing circle.

There has been some harassments as well…: Anaya Bangar

Speaking in an interview with Saurabh Dwivedi on Lallantop, Anaya revealed that since her revelation, she has received support as well as there has been instances of harassment as well. She also revealed that a few cricketers also sent her nude pictures stating, “There has been support and there have been some harassment as well…. There have been a few cricketers who randomly sent me nude pictures of them.”

Furthermore, while speaking of the emotional toll she had while hiding her true identity, she also shared the experiences while being on the field with some current India stars like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan, Musheer Khan, and others. "I played with some well known cricketers now like Musheer Khan, Sarfaraz Khan, Yashasvi Jaiswal. I had to maintain secrecy about myself because dad is a well known figure. Cricket world is filled with insecurity and toxic masculinity," Anaya stated.

She further shared a shocking incident, which left everyone baffled of the situation. "The person used to give gaalis in front of everybody. The same person then used to come and sit beside me and ask for my photos. There was another instance, when I was in India, I told a puraane (veteran) cricketer about my situation. He told me let's go in the car, I want to sleep with you," Anaya revealed.

While her latest interaction comes as an eye-opener, revelation of her identity came at a crucial juncture where the International Cricket Council (ICC) changed its rules on transgender women in cricket, following which, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) also updated its policy, preventing them from playing international matches.
