In the final over of the Kolkata Knight Riders innings, Andre Russell took Mukesh Kumar of Delhi Capitals to the cleaners by scoring a hat-trick of sixes. The Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi was lit up by Russell Muscle as he peppered the deep mid-wicket boundary for three humongous maximums back to back.
With this hitting blitz from Andre Russell, Kolkata Knight Riders were able to get up to 127 total in their allotted 20 overs. At one stage, KKR were 96/9 in the 16th over and looked like getting bowled out under a hundred against DC in Delhi.

Dre Russ was the second highest scorer for Kolkata on the night as he got 38(31) in trying conditions. Jason Roy got 43(39) on his return but still the team ended up scoring 127 all out in exactly 20 overs. Delhi Capitals were clinical with the ball as the experienced quartet of Anrich Nortje, Ishant Sharma, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel picked up two wickets each.
Kuldeep Yadav was happy with his and the entire team’s bowling performance during the mid-innings break and said, “We bowled really well in the powerplay, got three, four wickets, I think that was game changing for us. I love bowling the quicker ones, in future too I will bowl the quicker ones to keep the batters guessing. I think we bowled well, probably this was the lowest we could restrict them to, given their line-up. I think we can chase this down.”
In the run chase, Delhi Capitals huffed and puffed for a long while but they eventually got their first win of IPL 2023 season by 4 wickets against a resilient Kolkata Knight Riders bowling attack. The captain David Warner top scored with 57 off 41 deliveries, including 11 fours, to help DC get over the line.
