The ninth and final ATP Masters 1000 event of the season is already underway in Paris. The week-long tennis tournament commenced on October 31 and will conclude on November 6 at the Accor Arena. Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Carlos Alcarez, Alexander Zverev, Andrey Rublev are a few names to feature in the tournament.

On Day 2 of the ongoing Paris Masters, while Novak Djokovic cruised past M Cressy 7-6, 6-4, the three-time Grand Slam winner in Andy Murray lost his Round of 64 game against Gilles Simon. The British lost 6-4, 5-7, 3-6 after suffering a cramp in the second set of the game.

After his loss in the match, the former World No. 1 later refused to shake hands with the chair umpire and walked past him with Simon going ahead and thanking the chair umpire with a handshake. The 35-year-old who went on to win the first set of the match 6-4 but failed to the prowess  shots played by his French opponent to go down 5-7 in the second set and later end the game losing the third set 3-6.

“It’s nothing to do with my hip. I just think the reality is I need to work harder. Obviously, there’s certain things I can and can’t do nowadays, I need to be bit more careful with some of the training that I do”, Murray said post-match.

However, the former World No. 1 went on to say that his dip in form came after his stint playing in Newport, Rhode Island where he featured  immediately after the Wimbledon 2022. “I could have done a training block there to get in the heat and prepare better for the summer”, he further added.
