The match no. 20 in Pakistan Super League 2021 between Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars witnessed some breathtaking action in the first innings in Abu Dhabi. After Shadab Khan's side dramatically collapsed to 20/5 in 6.1 overs, Asif Ali joined hands with Iftikhar Ahmed and notched up a brilliant 123-run partnership for the sixth wicket. The duo got United back into the game with some unbelievable stroke-making but their incredible partnership ended in the rarest manner.

How did Ali lose his wicket on Sunday?

It was the penultimate over of the first innings as Islamabad United were trying to go past the 160-run mark. After conceding a six off the first delivery, Shaheen Afridi bounced back and followed it up with three good balls which put the pressure back on the batting side. Asif Ali, who was batting at a score of 75, tried to do something different as he went deep inside the crease to convert a good length delivery into a bouncer.

The 29-year-old got himself tangled up and while he gloved the ball towards short fine, his pads went on to clip the stumps in the process as the bails fell off and a jaw-dropping innings came to an unorthodox end. Shaheen and all other players were quick to go and congratulate Ali for his brilliant knock that propelled his side to a competitive total of 152/7 in 20 overs.
