Babar Azam “very proud” of series win over Sri Lanka

Pakistan achieved two incredible wins over Sri Lanka. The team won by an innings and 222 runs to clean-sweep the hosts Sri Lanka 2-0 in the test series. The 28-year-old skipper praised Abdullah Shafique and Saud Shakeel, who scored double centuries in the second and first tests respectively.

He said, “Very proud to win the series, all credit to the boys and the coaching staff who've worked hard from the last 3-4 months. Everyone put in their efforts for us to win the series. We ticked all the boxes, worked hard on batting and fielding. Not a lot of it on the pitch for the pacers but they bowled well in both Tests. This is a team game, Saud in the first Test and Abdullah here were outstanding.”

Pakistan will now shift their focus to the upcoming Asia Cup, where they are set to face bitter rivals India in the group stage. Notably, the format of the tournament could mean that they will have to face India three times throughout the tournament if the results go a certain way. Their Asian Cup campaign will begin against Nepal in Multan and their second game will be against India in Pallekele.
