The second edition of the Road Safety World Series is underway. A total of eight teams are featured in this tournament edition- India Legends, Sri Lanka Legends, Australia Legends, Bangladesh Legends, New Zealand Legends, South Africa Legends, West Indies Legends, and England Legends. The tournament started around mid-September and is currently into its business end. The top four teams almost look certain.
India Legends, Sri Lanka Legends, West Indies Legends, and Australia Legends have made it to the knockouts. Meanwhile, Bangladesh Legends and England Legends are knocked out. The two teams have just not been able to put things together. Both are winless so far as they have lost four out of five matches while one game got washed away.
The reason for their inconsistent performance has been their body language in the field. An example of this was seen during a match between Sri Lanka Legends and Bangladesh Legends. In the 19th match of the tournament, the two teams locked horns and the match was eventually won by Sri Lanka Legends. The Tilakaratne Dilshan-led team crushed Bangladesh Legends by 70 runs.
Sri Lanka Legends posted a massive 213/5 in their 20 overs. While their batters did a terrific job to score runs at a quick pace, Bangladesh Legends fielders also helped their cause. They were sloppy in the field and conceded unwanted runs. An example of this was seen in a video going viral on social media. In the video, Bangladesh fielders can be seen being lazy and conceding four runs instead of one.
On one of the deliveries of Sri Lanka Legends' innings, the batter tries to sweep the off-spinner but managed a top-edge. Resultantly the ball balloons up. Bangladesh Legends’ wicketkeeper runs behind it for a while but pulls out at the last minute to see the ball dropping in front of him and spinning away. The fielder from short third man gives the ball a chase and manages to get hold of it. By then the two batters had already completed two runs.
Now, as the Sri Lanka Legends’ batter see that the fielder is still holding the ball and a throw is yet to come, they decide to run another single and get success at that. Meanwhile, the Bangladesh legends’ fielder panics and desperately throws the ball without any aim. Resultantly, the two batters manage to sneak in another run making it four runs instead of one.
