Bangladesh players brought their best game against South Africa while locking horns with a better-seeded opponent in the three-match ODI series. Tamim Iqbal-led side recorded their first-ever bilateral ODI series victory in South Africa, beating the Proteas by nine wickets in the 3rd and final ODI at SuperSport Park, Centurion. They clinched the series 2-1.
In a post-match presentation, Iqbal, who starred with the bat after scoring unbeaten 87 in 82 balls, termed the victory as massive and claimed, "This is probably one of the biggest achievements in my career." He rated series triumph in South Africa at the top and hailed quality all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan who chose to participate in the contest despite his family members are in the hospital struggling with health.
"His two daughters along with his mother and mother-in-law, are all in hospitals. Still playing for his country shows the character of the man. He wanted to win this series, so I thank him, he has been brilliant for us," said the skipper.
However, remarkable victory demands much special celebration, and Bangladesh players didn't shy away from expressing their delight after writing their names in history books. The team members gathered in a huddle and sang the Bengali version of "Hum Honge Kamyab". In Bengali language, it translates to "Amra Korba Joy" which is sung Bhupen Hazarika. Players and the coaching staff joined the huddle and expressed happiness by singing the song and cheering for their side's historic win.

After an overwhelming performance in the series-decider, South Africa came up short against the spirited Tigers and lost by nine wickets. Taskin Ahmed was the standout bowler from the side as he picked the second fifer of his ODI career and rattled the Proteas batting badly.
While Janneman Malan scored 39, Keshav Maharaj (28 off 39) and Dwaine Pretorius (20 off 29) also contributed as South Africa bundled out for 154 runs in 37 overs. In response, Bangladesh batters started off well as opener Tamim Iqbal's 87 and Liton Das' 48 in 57 balls provided a solid foundation to the team. Duo added 127 runs for the first wicket before Das got dismissed of Maharaj.
Shakib Al Hasan joined Tamim in the middle, and the pair remained unbeaten as Bangladesh registered a massive 9-wicket win in the third and final ODI. Earlier, Bangladesh had a flying start to the series, as the visitors won their first ODI of the series at Centurion by 38-runs but lost the second match in Johannesburg.
