A video has recently gone viral on social media, where a batsman smashed a huge six while initially standing behind the stumps. In a rare incident from an Indian club cricket match, a batsman, who had taken his initial stance behind the stumps, came in front of the stumps at the time of the delivery to smash a gigantic six over the extra covers.
Although, there is no written law that prohibits the batsman to play behind the stumps, but if the fielding team appeals for obstructing the field, there are chances that the batsman would be given out for obstructing the wicket keeper.

Brad Haddin runs behind the stumps to play Shoaib Akhtar's ball
In a contrasting incident from Pakistan’s 2005-06 tour of Australia, the tourists played a practice match against Australia A at the Adelaide Oval. While Shoaib Akhtar opened the bowling attack for Pakistan, openers Brad Haddin and James Hopes took the crease for the hosts. To restraint Akhtar's 155 kmph delivery, Brad Haddin ran behind the stumps and played the ball at the mid-wicket to take two runs as it was a free-hit.

However, Akhtar overstepped again and Haddin faced another free-hit delivery. This time the Rawalpindi Express bowled a slower delivery into the stumps and the Aussie opener, who again stepped behind the stumps, failed to make a contact with his bat as the ball hit the stumps but the Aussies again took a bye run as only a run-out is counted as a wicket during a free-hit.
