The Ashes Boxing Day Test in Melbourne did not really turn out the way England would have planned as Australia registered a huge victory by an innings and 14 runs to retain the urn. It was an absolutely dismal performance by Joe Root's side who were bundled out on a paltry score of 68 on Day 3 with debutant Scott Boland wreaking havoc.

Although there weren't many moments for the English players to enjoy in this match, there was one during Day 2 of the contest. During drinks break, pacer Mark Wood was being interviewed by the commentators when a hilarious sequence of events took place.

Mischievous Stokes is back!

Ben Stokes, who was standing behind, looked in no mood to let his teammate complete the conversation without any trouble. The all-rounder was constantly trying to disrupt the concentration of Mark Wood by throwing water from the bottle.

However, the pacer looked unperturbed despite all the disturbances as he talked about James Anderson's bowling and the scenes in the dressing room earlier in the day when there was a COVID-19 scare.

But eventually, Stokes managed to complete his task as Wood finally lost his composure. The pacer jokingly looked towards the all-rounder and asked him to go off as the commentators also burst out in laughter. Stokes was also satisfied with his mischief after drawing a reaction from Wood.

Crushing defeat for England at MCG

England literally surrendered themselves in the third Test as they did not just lose the match but went down without a fight. After the match, captain Joe Root admitted that they were completely outplayed by the opponents. He said, "We've been playing in these times for a while now, all you can do is try and front up. Credit to Australia they blew us away."

"I thought the way we went about our cricket on the field was excellent. We put them under pressure and were very much in the Test match. We've got to do things for longer, been small pockets but nowhere near long enough. We know the areas we need to improve on. We have to stay strong and look at the next two games to take something from the tour," Root concluded.
