The Houston Rockets finished their NBA 2023-24 regular season with a 50% win record as they defeated the LA Clippers 116-105 at the Arena on Sunday. In the final game of the regular season, the home crowd witnessed the downfall of the Clippers, however, Rockets center Boban Marjanovic delighted the fans by intentionally missing his free shots, which gave them a free chicken sandwich.

Just like many sports teams, the LA Clippers have a promotion that can deliver free food for their fans if the visiting side fulfill certain conditions. The Clippers fans can get a free Chick-fil-A sandwich if their opponents miss two consecutive free throws in the fourth quarter.

With less than five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter and the Rockets were leading Clipers 105-97, the 35-year-old Serb was awarded two free throws after a Daniel Theis' defensive foul. After Boban missed the first free throw, the crowd went berserk and waved cardboard cutouts of chicken sandwiches. The former Clippers center realized the crowd's need and said, "I got you", before throwing his second free shot. Boban intentionally missed his second free throw and the Clippers crowd received their free chicken sandwich.

Although the game between the Clippers and the Rockets was a mere formality as LA have already consolidated their spot in the playoffs with a 51-31 record, securing the fourth spot in the West, Houston are out of contention as they have managed the 11th spot with a 41-41 record.

Boban, who spent two years at the LA Clippers, played 12 minutes on Sunday afternoon and registered 13 points with eight rebounds and an assist. However, his best assist was for the Clippers crowd, making him ' Truly a man of the people!'
