After fulfilling his responsibilities for the Delhi Capitals in the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Saurashtra cricketer Chetan Sakariya is currently with Zalawad Royals playing in the second edition of the Saurashtra Premier League. And Sakariya has started the tournament on a high as he bowled a triple-wicket maiden in his team’s game against Halar Heroes on Sunday.

Sheldon Jackson-led Zalawad Royals put on 135/6 in their 20 overs with the help of some contributions from the lower-middle order. Continuing on the momentum gained after losing early wickets, Royals started their defense aggressively. Chetan Sakariya started the proceedings with the ball and conceded only three runs in the first over. Shortly, ZR got rid of Chirag Sisodiya in the second over of HH innings as Suresh Tamil trapped him lbw.

Sakariya returned for his second over and completely rattled through HH’s middle-order as he bowled a triple-wicket maiden. On the very first ball of his 2nd over, the left-arm quick got rid of Snell Patel with a beautiful angling delivery. On the 3rd ball of his over, Sakariya got Arpit Vasavada caught at slips with an outswinger. The third wicket came in the form of Kunal Karamchandani who perished while trying to defend a climbing delivery. Sakariya finished the match with bowling figures of 2-1-3-3.

Halar Heroes lose big

Halar Heroes never recovered from this blow by Chetan Sakariya as they lost the game eventually by 55 runs. They were bundled out for 80 in 15.3 overs as ZR bowlers never gave HH batters a chance. Other than Sakariya, Parth Bhut (2/22) and Samar Gajjar (2/18) also helped in ZR’s cause to defend 135. Aditya Jadeja and Suresh Tamil also took a wicket each. Such was the dominance from Royals that eight of eleven HH batters were dismissed on single-digit scores. Four of them registered ducks.
