The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final is set to be played between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Tuesday, June 3, with both teams looking to secure their first-ever title win in history. Just a few hours before the first ball will be bowled at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, IPL legend Chris Gayle, who dominated the league during his time with RCB from 2011 to 2017, arrived in the city to watch his former franchises battle for the coveted title.

After joining RCB in the year 2011, Chris Gayle went on to score 3163 runs in 85 matches at an average of 43.33 and a strike-rate of 152.73 with five hundreds and 19 fifties. The former West Indies cricketer played for RCB in two IPL finals in 2011 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), losing on both occasions, and during his stints with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS), he didn’t win the trophy either.

AB de Villiers also landed in Ahmedabad earlier today to watch IPL 2025 final

Apart from Chris Gayle, his former RCB teammate AB de Villiers also landed in the city of Ahmedabad earlier today, to see their close friend Virat Kohli compete in the IPL final for the fourth time in his career. The Indian cricketing superstar has been a constant at RCB since 2008, playing in three IPL finals over the years, including the first one in 2009, which his franchise lost to Deccan Chargers, following which he took part in defeats in 2011 and 2016 finals alongside Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers.

With the legends in the house, the IPL 2025 final is shaping up to be a thrilling spectacle, and it will decide the first-time winner in either RCB or PBKS when it’s all said and done. Over a 100,000 fans are set to make their presence felt at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on a weekday, to watch two of the best teams in the IPL season slug it out for the ultimate glory.
