The Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Houston Rockets 99-78 on Monday night to win their maiden NBA Summer League Championship title. The Cavaliers thereafter had a great celebration as they posed with the trophy and the rings at the Thomas & Mack center in Las Vegas post their Championship win.
While the Cavaliers ended Houston Rockets unbeaten streak, Isaiah Mobley and Sam Merrill were the stars of the day as they led the way to combine 55 points for the side in their 21 points win. While the Cavs won six games in the competition, Isaiah Mobley, brother to teammate Evan Mobley stole the show with a double-double of 28 points and 11 rebounds, along with two block and two steals. With this performance, Mobley even won the MVP award of the Summer League final.
Talking about the game, Cavaliers dominated the first quarter as the shooting guard Mobley recorded 4-5 to keep his side ahead, closing with 28-14 lead. However, Rockets returned in the second quarter, just leaving behind with a difference of three points. The Cavs regained control post the break with 15 points from Sam Merrill, going into the final quarter with a 20-point lead and eventually winning the title.
The Summer League MVP also became the first Cavaliers player with 25 points and 10 rebounds in a Summer League game since Ante Zizic in 2018. He finished averaging 5.8 points on 45.5 per cent shooting, 7.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.4 blocks per game.
