After putting 327/3 at the end of Day 1 of the World Test Championship Final 2023, Steve Smith and Travis Head continued to extend their partnership as Smith completed his seventh century in England while Day 1 centurion Travis Head reached 150-run mark.

However, the two in-form batters did not stay long at the crease as a brilliant start by the Indian bowling lineup, sent them packing in the first session of Day 2. After playing five full overs at the start of the day, a brilliant short ball on the leg stump helped the Men in Blue add one more wicket into their kitty and this was an important one of Travis Head.

 

The Australian batter shuffled to pull but failed to connect to the ball, getting a slight edge. KS Bharat, who earlier dismissed David Warner with a brilliant catch, did not miss this one as he collected the ball well behind the wickets to send Head back to the pavilion at the score of 163.

Earlier in the match, Rohit Sharma-led Team India had won the toss and elected to field first. While the side dismissed the Australian top-order on Day 1, the bowlers were under the radar for leaking runs as the Pat Cummins-led side posted 300-plus score on Day 1 of the WTC Final.
