Saturday’s match (14 May) against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) was a near-perfect game for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as they beat SRH by a massive 54 runs to keep their playoff hopes alive. However, there was also a momentary lapse from KKR fielders in the game.

On the same ball, a catch was dropped then a wide throw that could not be backed up, and then a misfield in the deep while trying to stop the ball took place. On the fifth delivery of the 19th over of the SRH innings, KKR’s Shivam Mavi first dropped an easy catch of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. He then could not get the throw right at the non-striker’s end and the backup fielder also failed to get a hold of the ball.

Rinku Singh who tried to cut the throw in the deep, also fumbled a bit and SRH batters completed two runs on a ball that could have earned Southee a wicket.
