The end of IPL 2023 witnessed Chennai Super Kings clinching the champions tag after they bested Gujarat Titans in the last-ball thriller on May 29, Monday. Hours after Mahendra Singh Dhoni lifted the IPL trophy for the fifth time as CSK captain, it was taken to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam to seek blessings of the almighty.

In a video doing rounds on social media, the officials of the franchise could be seen taking the trophy to Tirumala, as a part of their post-victory ritual. The final of the IPL season 2023 was supposed to be played on May 28, Sunday. However, the rain at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad pushed the grand finale to the reserve day, and got concluded during the early hours of Tuesday, May 30. The nail-biting thriller saw CSK batter Ravindra Jadeja smashing a six and a boundary when the team needed 12 runs off the last two deliveries to win the tournament.

Shouldering on Sai Sudarshan’s 96, the 2022 winners posted a score of 214/4 in 20 overs before the rain interrupted the play. The game was reduced to 15 overs with the final score being revised to 171. The win marked the fifth victory for the Chennai-based franchise, with 10th final for MS Dhoni and co.

After the victory, N Srinivasan, Vice Chairman, India Cements, told the skipper MS Dhoni, "Fantastic captain. You have done a miracle. Only you can do it. We are proud of the boys and the team.  This season has been one where the fans have demonstrated how much they love M S Dhoni. So do we."
