The 2021 season of Caribbean Premier League (CPL) has kicked off in St Kitts with Trinbago Knight Riders locking horns with Guyana Amazon Warriors on Thursday. Trinbago captain Kieron Pollard won the toss and put the opposition into bat. It turned out to be a very tricky wicket with both pacers and spinners getting a lot of assistance, making run-scoring very difficult.
All the Guyana batsmen struggled on the day as Sunil Narine (2/17) and Akeal Hosein (2/17) spun a web in the middle-overs. Surprisingly, captain Nicholas Pooran decided to demote himself down the batting order. The southpaw finally came to bat at No. 7 with the score reading 88/5 in 15 overs. The Warriors needed a few quick runs from their leader but things did not really go according to the plan.
Bravo shows his athleticism on the boundary
As Ravi Rampaul came in to bowl the 18th over, Nicholas Pooran was ready to take off having played a few deliveries to settle. The left-handed batsman was presented with a wide full toss on the first delivery of the over as Pooran smashed the ball towards long-off. It looked like that the contact was good enough to take the ball over the boundary. However, Darren Bravo had other plans!
The Knight Riders player, who was guarding the long-off boundary, timed his jump to perfection to take a brilliant catch. With the momentum taking him over the ropes, he was quick to react as he threw the ball up in the air before returning to complete the spectacular catch. Bravo's unbelievable presence of mind sent Pooran back to the pavilion putting the opposition on backfoot once again.

Guyana Amazon Warriors score 142/7 in 20 overs
Although Nicholas Pooran's wicket put Trinbago Knight Riders on top, Shimron Hetmyer held the other end and scored a brilliant fifty. The left-handed batsman chipped in with some crucial boundaries in death overs to take his side to 142/7 in 20 overs. Hetmyer (54 off 41) ended as top-scorer for his side on a wicket when all the other batsmen seemed to be struggling.
