After putting on a dominating show in three-match T20Is, Indian women kick start their ODI campaign against Sri Lankan Women in style. Harmanpreet Kaur-led side comprehensively chased down 171 in the series opener and has firmed the grip in the ongoing 2nd ODI. After being invited to bat first, Sri Lankan Women had a troublesome start to their innings as the hosts were soon reduced to 11-3 in 6.1 overs.

Indian bowlers didn't take too many balls to strike as Renuka Singh single-handedly destroyed Sri Lanka's top-order by dismissing Hasini Perera (0 off 4) in the fourth delivery of the match, followed by the dismissal of another opener Vishmi Gunaratne (3 off 14) in the 4.4 overs. While Singh turned out to be lethal for Lankan batters, India's right-arm medium pacer Meghna Singh too joined the party as she dismissed skipper Chamari Athapaththu (27 off 45) in the 16th over.

Although Meghna Singh dismissed the skipper in the 16th over, she got a similar opportunity in the second over of the match when Deepti Sharma almost pulled off a stunning one-handed blinder at slip, which was later called not-out by the third umpire. It all happened in the fifth delivery of the second over when Meghna bowled a dipping low full-toss, which the Lankan skipper tried to drive it but the ball got an outside edge.

Deepti Sharma, who was stationed at slip took a brilliant one-handed catch to her left, as Indian players started celebrating, the on-field umpires who were wary of the bounce signaled for assistance from the third-umpire. After repeatedly close watch, the third umpire called it a bump-ball and hence, Sharma's outstanding effort in the field went in vain.
