Dewald Brevis is rising to the ranks like no one else. The young South African has hardly set a foot wrong ever since he emerged as the highest run-getter at the 2021 U19 World Cup. He set the stage on fire in IPL 2022 with his quick little cameos. His five sixes to Rahul Chahar were one of the many memories of the young dynamic batter at the world’s biggest T20 league. Now, as Brevis is taking part in the ongoing CSA T20 Challenge, he is ensuring full contribution.

Apart from being a swashbuckling batter, Brevis is also a great fielder. The South African proved it in a Titans vs Knights game as he impressed everyone with his quick reflexes and presence of mind. Brevis pulled off a brilliant catch at the boundary ropes to dismiss Knights’ batter Snyman.

As the batter pulled Titans’ spinner Harmer, the ball flew quickly to the deep midwicket region. Brevis who was stationed to guard the boundary leapt to stop the ball from going over the ropes. But as he sensed that he himself was going over the boundary, Brevis got rid of the ball seconds before he hit the ropes. The fielder then dived inside the rope to complete the catch.

He smashed 13 fours and 13 sixes before getting dismissed in the 20th over, guiding his franchise to 271/3.

This innings from Brevis earned praise from all corners. AB de Villiers, after whom the young cricketer is fondly called Baby AB, took to Twitter and said, “Dewald Brevis. No need to say more.
