In their desperate bid to call Croatian mid-fielder Luka Modric back to the Dinamo Zagreb from Real Madrid, their president Mirko Barisic used a unique method as they took out a page in Saturday’s edition of Spain’s Marca newspaper which had Modric’s jersey number published on it.

The move came following Zagreb, which was the first club of Modric at the professional level, offered the 38-year-old to return to their club after the conclusion of his contract with Spain’s giant Real Madrid at the end of 2023/24. He had joined Ancelloti’s side in 2012.

Modric, who started his professional football career with Zagreb, moved to Tottenham Hotspur in 2008 before making his way to Real Madrid. Although, it is rumored that the Croatian veteran is said to be upset with the lack of game time in the current season which can escalate his ouster from the club after 12 long years.

However, despite rumors of his worsening relationships with Madrid manager Carlos Ancelotti in recent times, the former Italian player has consistently praised the professionalism and impact of Modrid over the years. It is expected that after his contract with Real Madrid, both clubs are set to represent a huge financial offer to Luka.

Luka Modric, despite being 38 and at the fag end of his career, continues to inspire through his athleticism and consistency at this very age. He has been also offered to play in the Saudi Pro League and Major League Soccer in the upcoming summers.
