India wicketkeeper batter Dinesh Karthik is not playing any kind of cricket. His next assignment will be the new season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) wherein he will be representing Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). But before that, Karthik is busy commentating in the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2022-23. The wicketkeeper batter is a part of Star Sports’ commentary panel for the series but he also makes an occasional appearance on ABC Sport.
Karthik appeared on ABC Sport’s commentary panel on the first day of the third Test between India and Australia. And while he was commentating, the Indian wicketkeeper made an accurate prediction about what is going to happen on the next ball. As India’s second last pair, Axar Patel-Umesh Yadav were at the crease, Karthik predicted that Yadav will go for a maximum on the next ball.
His fellow commentator then confirmed as he asked “You think so?” Karthik reassured saying “Yeah”. He was then thrown a “we’ll find out just in about a moment”. But what happened next left everyone in the room baffled. As Karthik predicted, Yadav went for a maximum against Nathan Lyon and nailed it. Everyone in the room could not control themselves from clapping and hailing the wicketkeeper.
“Dinesh Karthik, Nostradamus,” exclaimed Karthik’s fellow commentator. Meanwhile, the Indian has a sheepish smile on his face.

Notably, Yadav hit two sixes (one against Todd Murphy and one against Lyon) and Karthik’s prediction was special because it was the first of Yadav’s two sixes. So, no one knew what the batter had on his mind before he eventually hit a couple of sixes and a boundary.
On the back of this little cameo from Yadav (17 off 13) and a couple of 20+ scores (22 from Virat Kohli and 21 from Shubman Gill), India managed to score 109 before they were bowled out in their first innings.
