106:WATCH Dog enters field during women's cricket match in Ireland; steals the ball and runs away with it

Pitch invasion during a cricket match has become quite a common thing in recent times with 'Jarvo 69' doing it on numerous occasions during India's Test series against England. ECB and the security personnel faced a lot of backlash from the fans for failing to prevent the intruder from entering the ground. With the Test series now canceled, something very similar has now happened once again, this time a few kilometers away in Ireland.

Interestingly, this was the intrusion which was well appreciated by the players as it was rather adorable than controversial. The hilarious sequence of events happened during a women's domestic match in Ireland when there was an uninvited guest on the field who had some fun with the players in the middle resulting in brief stoppage of the game.

Who let the dog out?

The match was poised at a very tricky position with the batting side requiring 27 runs off 21 balls, with 4 wickets in hand. This is when batter A Leckey played the ball down the third-man region and called for a quick two. As the fielder chased the ball, a dog stormed into the pitch surprising everyone.

Interestingly, the fielder did not lose her focus and threw the ball at the keeper's end where there was an opportunity to run the batter out. The ball got slightly away from the keeper, who had to instead throw it back towards the stumps. The target was missed and the golden opportunity of running the batter out was gone. But, the drama continued!

As the ball failed to hit the stumps, it landed in the path of dog who grasped the ball and ran away from everyone. The on-air commentators also burst out in laughter watching the incident as they said, "There we go! Dog has stopped play."

Watch the hilarious incident here:

The dog eventually stopped at the non-striker's end where A Fisher maturely handled the situation to calm the dog down. This is when a young boy, who seemed like the owner of dog, retrieved the ball and handed it to the bowling side before taking the dog away from the scene.
