WATCH: Dutee Chand's dance on reality television show goes viral on social media

A 100m national record holder, Chand was seen dancing to the tunes of the song Dhaakad, from the movie Dangal.

Dutee Chand, India’s fastest woman joined the reality show, Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa as the first wild card contestant of the ongoing season. The grand premiere of the show was held on September 2, and Chand’s episode got aired last weekend.

One of the judges and Bollywood actresses, Madhuri Dixit announced her arrival at the show. A 100m national record holder, Chand was seen dancing to the tunes of the song Dhaakad, from the movie Dangal, which certainly falls perfectly in line with her profession.

Earlier, Chand had expressed her delight to participate in the show and reckoned it was a different challenge for her to perform different kinds of dance form in front of live audiences. Furthermore, the 26-year-old hopes she will improve her skills with the help of her choreographer.

“I have never imagined myself performing different dance forms and competing against such stellar performers. Having said that, as a sportsperson, I love taking on new challenges that are thrown at me. I am used to performing in front of live viewers, but this is going to be a new experience altogether,” said Chand ahead of joining the show.


“Learning any new art form is not easy but with the help of my choreographer, I am excited to take this up as a challenge and perform to the best of my capabilities.”

If talked about Chand’s professional career, she finished fourth in her heat in the women’s 100m in the Commonwealth Games 2022 and failed to qualify for the semis.

Chand will be next seen in the National Games, which are scheduled to be held in Gujarat from September 29, where she will represent Odisha. In the last edition of the Games in 2015, Chand secured gold in 100m and bronze in 200m.
