With the world going through adverse changes in climatic conditions, many organizations and environmental activists have tried to draw the attention of government to the same. With minimal action being taken, these people are trying to garner attention by interrupting live matches and events. It seems tennis matches are the new favorite protest site for these environmental activists.
After interruptions at the Roland Garros, an eco-protester tried to replicate the same at the ATP 500 men’s final in Germany on Sunday. During a match between Daniil Medvedev and Hubert Hurcakz at the Halle Open, a lady invaded the court and tried to tie herself to the net. However, her bold attempt was stopped by two security personnel. But it was not an easy task for the two guards with the young lady making them chase her across the court.
Though the viral video of the incident showed that the woman was small-framed, the guards did not have an easy time taking her away. A Laurel and Hardy-esque operation saw one of the men fall twice in quick succession while pulling her towards the corner of the court. As she was evicted - and a lengthy delay avoided (the game stopped for only 10 minutes) - the crowd in east-central Germany began to applaud and cheer.

Hurcakz upset Medvedev
Coming to the match, it was a big disappointment for the World No.1 as Hubert Hurkacz upset Daniil Medvedev to win the Halle Open and underline his credentials as a contender for Wimbledon. It took just 64 minutes for the big-serving Polish player to beat Medvedev 6-1, 6-4, and win his first grass-court title.
The Polish tennis star has shown immense consistency to beat defending champion Ugo Humbert, US Open semifinalist Felix Auger-Aliassime and the in-form Australian Nick Kyrgios before pinning down Medvedev. Meanwhile, the Russian has now lost back-to-back finals on grass after being stunned by then 205th-ranked Tim van Rijthoven last week.
