The third day of second Test between India and England has been dominated by the home side so far. Joe Root (89*) and Jonny Bairstow (51*) completely took charge in the first session at Lord's as England went into lunch without losing any wicket on the day, sitting comfortably at 216/3. However, there was a controversial moment that became the talking point on Saturday.

After there were reports of some fans hurling racist abuses towards Indian players at Trent Bridge in the previous Test, the unacceptable behaviour continued at Lord's. In the first session on Day 3, few fans inside the stadium threw champagne bottle corks at KL Rahul, who was fielding at the boundary.

Virat Kohli not pleased with fans' behaviour

As soon as KL Rahul brought the matter to everyone's notice, there was a brief stoppage in the game. The cameras then focused on Indian skipper Virat Kohli who was visibly unhappy with the actions of the English fans.

In the footage, it looks like Kohli is signaling Rahul to throw the bottle corks back towards the people who were involved in this pathetic act. The anger of the Indian skipper was quite justified as this kind of behaviour certainly holds no place in sport and should not be tolerated by anyone.

Indian fans slam English cricket fans for the pathetic behaviour

Indian fans were certainly very disappointed with the sequence of events unfolding at Lord's on Day 3. They slammed the English cricket fans and termed them as 'uncivilized'. There was also a section of people demanding the security personnel at home of cricket to step up and take charge of actions like these to ensure these kind of incidents do not repeat at the ground.

Time for UK government to step up and take charge

It must be noted that the behaviour of English sports fans have come under a lot of scrutiny in the last few months. The acts of racism and violence during EURO 2020 finals caught everyone's attention and something very similar was on display on the streets ahead of Manchester United's game against Leeds on Saturday.

With things escalating in the country, the government will certainly need to come up with some strict laws and plan of action to prevent these unacceptable acts, otherwise a time might come soon when no team will agree to play any sports in the United Kingdom.
