India are currently on top in the second Test against England at Lord's as the opening pair of KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma have taken them over 100-run mark without any trouble. Despite the overcast conditions, the duo stuck to their task and showed good application against a lethal bowling attack. While Rahul kept things solid at one end, Rohit was scoring some runs at the other end.

Just like the first Test, India weathered the storm against the new ball. This is when England resorted to Plan B which had worked for them in Nottingham. Few days back, a surprise short-pitch delivery from Ollie Robinson had provoked Hitman to hit a pull shot as the ball went straight into the hands of Sam Curran standing at fine-leg.

Joe Root's plan against Rohit fails at Lord's

With the ball getting old and Indian openers looking solid once again at Lord's, Joe Root tried to repeat the same sequence of events which had given his side a breakthrough few days back. The English skipper also had someone like Mark Wood this time around, to execute his plan to perfection.

As the pacer came to bowl the 25th over, he started the over with a slightly short-of-a-length delivery completely beating Rohit Sharma. Wood followed it up with two length deliveries drawing the Indian batsman on the front foot. The trap had been set!

On the next delivery, the right-arm pacer bowled a fast bouncer to surprise Hitman. However, the 34-year-old was not going to repeat the mistake he had done in the previous match. Rohit looked absolutely ready to face the bouncer as he got himself in a good position to hook the ball over the fine-leg boundary for a huge six.

Rohit plays a sensational 83-run knock

While one can argue that it wasn't a well-controlled shot, it wasn't risky at all as Wood's pace was always going to take the ball over the boundary ropes. Rohit had done his homework and it reaped benefits on Day 1 at Lord's. The Indian opener played a brilliant 83-run knock on Thursday before getting dismissed by James Anderson as India's score read 126/1.
