The IPL 2024 match 59 which was played between Gujarat Titans and the Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad was nothing short of an entertainer. After being invited to bat first, the GT posted 231 runs on the board, courtesy of a 210-opening stand between Shubman Gill and his opening partner Sai Sudharsan.
While the side eventually posted a massive 232-run target for the reigning champions, the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side struggled to score big despite Daryl Mitchell and Moeen Ali stitching a crucial partnership in the middle overs. But with fans waiting to get a glimpse of MS Dhoni with the bat, the action took a different turn and during this time a fan invaded the field of play to get a closer look and spare a moment with the legend.
This latest incident of pitch invasion took place in the final over of the CSK inning, causing a brief delay in the match. However, the security officials were quick to escort the fan out of the ground, the video of the incident has been doing rounds on social media. What was interesting here was the fan quickly went down on his knees and bowed down in front of the former CSK skipper as a mark of respect.
Watch the fan invade field and bow down in front of MS Dhoni:
With Gujarat Titans’ 35-run win against the CSK, they kept their playoff hopes still alive in the competition. After this dominating win, they now are placed eighth in the points table with similar points as Royal Challengers Bengaluru. On the other hand, CSK continue to sit in fourth place with 12 points and a comparatively better net run rate.
