The Finals Day of the T20 Blast is live on Saturday with the two semifinals and the final being played on the day. While Lancashire and Yorkshire took on each other in the first semifinal, Hampshire and Somerset locked horns in the second semifinal. With the Finals Day live, there was a huge crowd at Edgbaston in Birmingham cheering for their respective favorite teams.
With a full house at Edgbaston, one of the supporters took the chance to live a special moment for him and his partner. During the second semifinal between Hampshire and Somerset, a fan proposed to his girlfriend which was gleefully accepted and brought huge cheers from the people around. The Somerset County Cricket Club shared the video writing “And now we have a proposal in the Hollies. Only at Finals Day!” in the caption.
Lancashire, Hampshire to play T20 Blast final
Coming to the two contests, the first match was won by Lancashire (against Yorkshire) by six wickets. Despite posting a massive 204/7 on the board, Yorkshire failed to save the match as they lost in with eight balls to spare. Keaton Jennings and Dane Vilas starred for Lancashire as both the batters scored half-centuries. While Jennings got out after scoring 75 off 51 balls, Dane Vilas saw his team through with an unbeaten 63 off 36 balls.
Meanwhile, in the second semifinal, Hampshire beat Somerset by 37 runs to book a spot for themselves in the T20 Blast Final. Hampshire posted a handy 190/6 in their 20 overs with the help of some fine contributions from their batters. While Ben McDermott (31 of 17) and James Vince (20 of 12) provided quick start, Tom Prest (64 of 46) played through and helped Hampshire post a good total. The rest of the job was done by the bowlers, especially Nathan Ellis (3/30).
Now, the two teams (Lancashire and Hampshire) will face each other in the big final later in the day.
