The Dallas Mavericks point guard Kyrie Irving, who is known as one of the most mercurial players in the NBA, received a big welcome on his arrival to Xiamen in China for a promotional event on September 17, Sunday. The 31-year-old had recently signed a shoe deal with “ANTA,” a Chinese sports equipment company, after finishing up his association with Nike this July.

According to the deal, Kyrie Irving became the chief creative officer of ANTA, which had raised speculation about his arrival to the East Asian country. Now, after a couple of months, the first overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft, finally made his way to the city of Xiamen in China, with his fans storming the airport to catch a glimpse of him.

Anta took to their official Instagram account to share the pictures of Kyrie Irving making his way out of the airport. The excerpts of their post read, “The airport reception was nothing short of incredible, showcasing his fans' immense love and passion.”

Notably, after signing the shoe deal with Anta, Kyrie Irving shared a lengthy post on his official Twitter account, highlighting the importance of his new collaboration with the sports equipment company from China. The excerpts of his tweet read, “As Chief Creative Officer, I will push our teams domestically and internationally to unite like-minded trailblazers who have the vision to create and build their craft to transcend the footwear/apparel industry for generations to come.”
