The Rohit Sharma-led Team India are currently taking on five-time champions Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The Men in Blue enter this game after winning ten games on the trot, their opponents also are on a brilliant run of form, having won eight games in a row after their defeat against India and South Africa early in the flagship tournament.

Earlier in the match, Australian captain Pat Cummins won the toss and invited the hosts to bat first. While the Men in Blue lost their first wicket in the fifth over of the inning, with Shubman Gill playing his favourite shot. Adam Zampa, who was placed at mid-on region, completed a brilliant catch to dismiss the young Indian opener. After Gill’s departure, it was Virat Kohli, the highest run-getter of CWC 2023 who walked into the field.
As the former Indian skipper stepped on the field, he was welcomed with loud “Kohli…Kohli” chants. The stadium, which has been jam-packed for the final, echoed with "Kohli" chants.
