With the ongoing edition of County Championship underway in England, the match between Somerset and Nottinghamshire was stopped due to bizarre reasons. On the opening day of the 43rd match of the County Championship Division One 2025, a flock of seagulls were seen evading the field at the Cricket County Ground in Taunton.

The moment occurred during the 58th over of Somerset innings. Seagulls, who have been a common site in England, were seen taking the offside region of the ground. With a large number of seagulls landing on the field, the officials called to stop the play.

However, this is not the first instance of animals invading a game of cricket. Previously, during the 2015 World Cup final between Australia and New Zealand, a seagull unexpectedly flew in the path of the ball after colliding mid-air. Apart from seagulls, cricket matches have also seen dogs, cats rush to the ground midway through a match. Even cricket matches have been taken over by bees attack, a recent of which happened in Big Bash League last season.

Speaking of the County match, Craig Overton-led Somerset won the toss and elected to bat first. In the 96-over day, Somerset scored 275 runs at the loss of six wickets, courtesy fifty-plus scores from James Rew (58), Tom Abell (64) and an unbeaten 57 from Tom Banton.
