Kolkata Knight Riders’ mentor Gautam Gambhir and former Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni shared a warm hug during the IPL 2024. Both sides engaged in a thundering clash on April 8, Monday, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The game saw the reigning champions defeating the Shreyas Iyer-led side by a margin of seven wickets. After the game, the crowd at the Cheapuk Stadium witnessed a special moment, when former India teammates MS Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir shared a warm hug.

During the post-match customary handshakes, the 2011 World Cup winners shared a warm hug and exchanged a few words. The heartwarming site also buried the rivalries and restored old friendships the former Indian heroes once shared. The former India players engaged in on-field rivalries during their playing days, and things further led to a rift between them. 

Not only this, but India’s ex-opener has also shared some blunt remarks about Dhoni’s contribution to helping India win the 2011 World Cup. However, the hug between Dhoni and Gambhir supposedly ended the rift, and the heartwarming moment went viral all across social media.

In addition to this, the KKR mentor heaped praise on the five-time IPL-winning captain and called him the most successful skipper in the history of Indian cricket. Gambhir told Star Sports, “MS is probably the most successful captain India will ever have. I don’t think anyone can ever reach that level, winning three ICC trophies. People can win overseas, people can win as many Test matches, but it cannot get bigger than three ICC trophies.”
