The Spanish midfielder, Gavi, 19, has made an emotional return to the Barcelona dressing room just days after suffering an ACL injury on international duty. The young rising sensation in football is reportedly set to miss the entire 2023-24 season of football, along with the UEFA Euro 2024 next summer after he undergoes knee surgery in the coming days.
It was during the 10th and the final qualifying match for the UEFA Euro 2024 in Group A against Georgia on Sunday, November 19, when Gavi was forced off in the 26th minute after landing awkwardly on the football pitch while controlling the ball. The moment happened just after his collision with Luka Lochoshvili at the Estadio Jose Zorrilla in Valladolid, which the manager of Spain Luis de la Fuenta described as unrelated to the knee injury after his team secured a 3-1 win at home.
Just a day later, Barcelona released a statement about Gavi’s fitness which read, “Test carried out on Monday morning on the first team player Gavi have shown that he has a complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and an associated injury to the lateral meniscus. The player will have surgery in the coming days after which a new medical update will be released.”

Firstly, the 19-year-old got a big hug from the manager Xavi, before he hobbled on his one good leg to meet the likes of Marcos Alonso, Lamine Yamal, Joao Felix, and others, leading to the entire team and support staff giving him a warm reception.
