Talking about the game, Ghana took the lead in the 24th minute thanks to an incredible goal by defender Mohammed Salisu. The Southampton man received a quality delivery from Jordan Ayew and the Korean defence failed to clear the ball. Here Salisu capitalised and tapped the ball into the right corner.
Then Ajax’s Mohammed Kudus doubled the lead just ten minutes later. But in the second half, the Taegeuk Warriors managed quickly equalise with two goals in three minutes by Cho Gue-sung. But it once again was Kudus's time, as the young centre-forward scored a stellar goal to tilt the game in Ghana’s favour.
Reacting to the win, Ghana coach Otto Addo was extremely proud of his team and talked about their fighting spirit in the second half. "It was emotional with the ups and downs. South Korea did very well, pushed and pressed us," said Otto Addo. "We were struggling, we wanted to stop the crosses, but we didn’t put enough intensity into stopping the crosses. There was passionate defending and very good goalkeeping ... in the end we were a bit lucky.”
