India and Australia locked horns in the first T20I of the three-match series at the IS Bindra Cricket Stadium in Mohali. Rohit Sharma’s men were invited to bat first by Aaron Finch after the Australia captain won the toss. India got two early blows as their captain Rohit Sharma and star batter Virat Kohli departed cheaply. However, KL Rahul and Suryakuamr Yadav steadied the ship for the Men in Blue.
After these two batters departed, Hardik Pandya unfurled his stylish shots as he took the Australian bowlers to the cleaners. The swashbuckling batter hit every Australian batter all around the park to propel India to 208/6 in their 20 overs. Pandya kept losing partners but he did not stop. While the Indian batter was smashing the bowlers, Australia's fielders were also trying hard to stop the flow of runs.
In the same process, Glenn Maxwell saved a certain six with an acrobatic effort near the long-on boundary. On the third ball of the 19th over, Harshal Patel took on Nathan Ellis as he slogged him towards long-on. With apt timing, the ball seemed to fly over the ropes. However, Maxwell timed his jump to perfection as he got a hand on the ball. The Aussie also showed great presence of mind to get rid of the ball when he was about to touch the ropes. With his effort, Maxwell saved five runs for his team.
