The Mumbai Indians (MI) batting lineup batted exceptionally well as a unit to reach the 217-run total against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the match 50th of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 while losing just a couple of wickets. After openers Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton setup a perfect platform with a century stand, going past their respective fifties, it was the Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav show in the middle, putting up a brutal power-hitting display, to ensure MI got an above par total on the board.
Following an opening partnership of 116 runs, Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton lost their wickets in back-to-back overs, allowing RR to get the foot in the contest. But then, the captain and the vice-captain of MI, Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav consolidated the team’s innings with a relatively calm start to their respective innings before going into overdrive, especially in the last six overs of the innings.

The right-handed batting duo didn’t spare any of the RR bowlers, and they came heavily on the likes of Fazalhaq Farooqi and Maheesh Theekshana, clobbering them boundaries very consistently. Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav ended up scoring exactly 48 runs in 23 balls with seven boundaries each, to put MI in a great position to win their sixth straight IPL 2025 match at the expense of RR.
