As expected there was drama and excitement in the final Group H matchday at the FIFA World Cup 2022 on Friday. While Portugal had already qualified from the group for the Round of 16, it was all to play for the second vacant spot in the group and boy did it go down to the wire before South Korea sealed a place to the pre-quarterfinals.

As the game between Portugal and South Korea seemed to be headed towards a 1-1 draw and Uruguay leading 2-0 over Ghana in their match, it seemed like Uruguay will comfortably join Portugal from this round into the knockout stage. However, that was not to be as Hwang Hee-chan's stoppage time goal turned it around for South Korea and not only clinched 3 points from the match but helped see South Korea through to the next round.

Hwang Hee-chan's goal which followed Kim Young-gwon's 27th-minute equaliser meant South Korea will go ahead having scored more goals (4) even though they finished with the same goal difference as Uruguay  who netted 2 goals both coming in their final match against Ghana.
