Star Sports, the official broadcaster of Asia Cup 2022 has released the first promo of the event featuring India's all-format skipper Rohit Sharma on Thursday. The broadcaster took to Twitter to share the promo with a caption, "40 crore fans cheering ????? ?????… there is no greater pride than this for Rohit Sharma." The event will commence on 27 August in UAE with the final set to be played on September 11.
Team India will kickstart their Asia Cup 2022 campaign against Pakistan on 28 August. While India is the defending champion of Asia Cup, Sri Lanka is the official host of the 15th edition but due to prevailing economic crisis and political turmoil the tournament moved to Dubai. The 15th edition will feature India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and the winner of Qualifying event, which is scheduled to take place in Oman.
Singapore, Kuwait, UAE and Hong Kong will cross swords in the qualifiers and the winner will join India and Pakistan in the Group A. Earlier, Pakistan Cricket Board announced the 15-member squad for the event naming Babar Azam as the captain. The exclusion of Pakistan pace spearhead Hasan Ali came as a brig surprise.
