With just five games remaining in 0the 2023-24 Serie A season, Simone Inzaghi's Inter Milan consolidated their top spot in the points table with a 2-1 away win against their city rivals AC Milan on Monday night. Inter extended their lead to 17 points from second-placed Milan and will be crowned the Serie A champions this season, however, the Nerazzurri fans celebrated the win in a strange way that included an AC Milan-themed coffin.

Inter clinched three points from their away clash against Milan on Monday and managed 87 points in 33 matches followed by the Rossoneri at the second spot with 69 points in 33 games. Inter have lost just one game this season in the Italian league and have already clinched their 20th Scudetto with five games remaining.

After the 2-1 victory for Inter, their supporters pulled off a strange way of celebrating the win. In a viral video on social media, Inter fans placed a coffin, which has AC Milan's colours, in front of a Milan cathedral.

The intense Derby di Milano saw three goals scored between the two sides and three red cards were shown. Inter took an early lead in the 18th minute with defender Francesco Acerbi's opener followed by forward Marcus Thurram's goal that doubled the lead for the visitors. AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori scored the only goal for his side in the 80th minute as Stefano Pioli's side pushed for an equaliser.

While Milan failed to score an equaliser, they were shown two red cards while Inter received one sent off as Theo Hernandez and Denzel Dumfries were involved in an on-field altercation. The Dutch defender, who plays for Inter, grabbed the French defender's collar and dragged him away. The official showed red cards to both players three minutes into the stoppage time.

Moments later, Milan defender Davide Calabria received a red card after his arm caught Inter midfielder Henrich Mkhitaryan's face, leaving the referee with no choice other than showing a red card.
