MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings defeated KKR by 27 runs with a dominant performance in the IPL 2021 final. The newly crowned champions had another reason to celebrate after their landmark victory as it was pacer Shardul Thakur's 30th birthday on Saturday. Thakur played a key role in Chennai Super Kings' title win as his spell in the middle overs totally changed the game in favour of CSK.
The CSK squad celebrated Shardul Thakur's 30th birthday with much joy and vigour. Thakur cut the birthday cake in the dressing room. CSK shared the video of the celebrations on social media wherein MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Krishnappa Gowtham Ravindra Jadeja, Deepak Chahar and Ruturaj Gaikwad were seen pouring cold drinks on Shardul Thakur.
CSK captioned the video on Twitter, 'Go Shardhool... It's your B'day!'. Dwayne Bravo delivered a special 'It's your birthday, it's your birthday' song for the birthday boy. MS Dhoni was also seen giving Shardul a piece of the cake to eat.

Shardul Thakur scalped 3 wickets in the final as he first dismissed the in-form KKR opener Venkatesh Iyer and then scalped the wicket of Nitish Rana for a first-ball duck in the same over. He also picked the wicket of Rahul Tripathi. The CSK all-rounder had a productive IPL 2021 as he finished 4th in the Purple Cap race. He scalped 21 wickets in 16 matches this season and finished behind Harshal Patel, Avesh Khan and Jasprit Bumrah.
