Ahead of the rescheduled fifth Test match between England and India, the Three Lions were riding on good form. The hosts had completed a series whitewash against New Zealand with the bowlers as well as batters having confidence in their abilities. However, Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja led the fightback for India in this match by hitting centuries and propelled the team to a strong score of 416 at Edgbaston, Birmingham.

The newly-appointed skipper Jasprit Bumrah etched his name into the history books by scoring 29 runs off the bat in Stuart Broad's over. The England pacer's 35-run became the most expensive one in Test history with Bumrah also becoming the owner of the most runs scored in an over in a Test match record.

With the ball, Bumrah was terrific as well with his nagging line and lengths, which made the English batters unsure against the swinging new ball. In the third over, the Ahmedabad-born pacer delivered a no-ball in what would otherwise have been the last legal delivery. However, in the very next ball, which was the extra delivery, the 28-year-old darted in an accurate in-swing ball, which got past the defense of opener Alex Lees and bamboozled his stumps.

Dismissal of Lees:

The rain break didn’t have enough effect on his momentum, as the Indian skipper induced an edge of Zak Crawley, which was caught at the slips by Shubman Gill in the fifth over. In the 11th over of the innings, Bumrah was terrific with his accuracy but again delivered a no-ball. On this occasion as well, he bowled a widish delivery, to which the in-form batter Ollie Pope tried to reach out but got holed out to Shreyas Iyer at the slips.

Check out the video of Bumrah's reaction after getting rid of Pope:

Until the tea break, England are at 60/3, with Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow at the crease. It will be interesting to see if the Indian bowlers can pick up the wickets of these two players, and put India in an advantageous position.
