The Phoenix Suns continue their dominant regular season into the playoffs as they defeated the Dallas Mavericks 121-114 in the first game of the second playoff series. The game can be considered another classic Suns victory where several players contribute. Whereas for Dallas, it was the Luka Doncic show where he dropped 45 points with 12 rebounds and eight assists while shooting 15-30 from the field and 4-11from the deep.

But Phoniex with one of the best defences in the league clamped up the Mavericks’ offence. One such play was made by the veteran centre Javale Mcgee, who is known for interior presence, face guarded Doncic on the perimeter.

Mcgee with his agility stood his ground and then surprisingly stole the ball from the former Rookie of the Year in incredible fashion. The three-time champion then proceeded to drive up the ball and finished the playoff with a towering fast-break dunk over the Dallas defence.

The Valley Boys were led by Deandre Ayton’s 25 points with eight rebounds while shooting 12-20 from the field. The former Wildcat is on pace to become the first player to average 20 points on 65% shooting in a single playoff run as he is currently putting up 21.1 points and 9.6 rebounds with a 68.0% field goal percentage. The Suns are also nearing another record of winning 51 straight games when they are leading after 3 quarters this season. The record is held by the Los Angeles Lakers who 57 games in the 2020 NBA season.
