It has been a Commonwealth Games to remember for the Indian weightlifting contingent in Birmingham. The country has so far won 6 medals overall and all 6 of them have come from this sport. Only the seventh medal which India have been assured of is in a different sport of Lawn Bowls.

While 3 of the 6 medals have been gold, there have been 2 silver and 1 bronze medallist so far. Mirabai Chanu, Jeremy Lalrinnunga and Achinta Sheuli have clinched the gold so far for India. While Chanu won the first gold for the country in this competition, Lalrinnunga won it a day later which was followed by Achinta's win.

In a video that has now surfaced on social media, Lalrinnunga’s family can be seen celebrating one of his successful lifts from his gold medal-winning effort in Birmingham.

Notably, Lalrinnunga won the gold in the men's 67kg category. While the 19-year-old created a new Commonwealth Games record in the snatch event by lifting 140 kgs, he lifted 160kg in the clean and jerk round to finish with a grand total of 300k- a new CWG record.
