England’s white-ball skipper Jos Buttler took an outstanding catch while keeping for Lancashire in the T20 Blast. The stunning catch dismissed Northamptonshire’s opener Ricardo Vasconcelos in the third over and gave a crucial breakthrough to Lancashire, who were bowling first.

On the fourth ball of the third over, Lancashire’s Luke Wood bowled a length ball which skidded off the deck just looking to miss the off stump. The batsman Vasconcelos gave it a thick outside edge and it flew to the keeper where Buttler had to make a full-length dive on his left to catch the ball.  This crucial wicket proved to be a turning point as Northamptonshire managed to score just 120 and lost seven wickets at the end of 17 overs.

Lancashire have had a great season in the tournament so far, winning seven games out of the 13 they have played. They are a part of the ‘North’ group in the points table and are perched comfortably at the second position, just below Warwickshire. Staying in the top four will ensure them a place in the quarter-finals of the league. They will be eager to get their hands on the title for the second time, after winning their maiden title in 2015, when they defeated Northamptonshire by 13 runs in the final.

As a batter though, Jos Buttler is somewhat having an off-season with Lancashire as he has managed to score just 281 runs in 13 innings in the T20 Blast at an average of 35 and strike rate of 151. Jos Buttler who is England’s T20I and ODI captain will be eager to polish his keeping skills and keep himself fresh for the ODI World Cup which is set to take place in India this year.
